Medical assistants are the professionals whose key job responsibilities include assisting in all and every administrative and clinical tasks at the organisation. The duties and responsibilities of a medical assistant may vary depending upon the location of working, speciality under which employed, and the size/ type of the practice/ organisation. - It is the responsibility of the medical assistant to make a record of the patient’s personal information the moment they are admitted or initially examined.
- It is the responsibility of the medical assistant to help closely the respective physician/ doctor in examining the patient.
- The medical assistant is also responsible for ensuring that all the tests ordered by the respective doctor are conducted properly and that the reports for the same are conveyed in due time.
- The medical assistant is also responsible for assisting the patient in filling out the various forms and fill in the information whenever or wherever required.
- It is also the responsibility of the medical assistant to help the doctor in making a proper diagnosis of the patient’s illness.
- The medical assistant is also responsible for assisting the doctor/ physician in charting out a course of treatment specific to the respective patient, his/her history and illness.
- The medical assistant is responsible for ensuring that all the equipments, machines or tools required by the doctor in the course of treatment are provided after being sterilized properly.
- It is the responsibility of the medical assistant to oversee and authorise the drug/ medicine refills for the patients as per the prescriptions.
- It is the responsibility of the medical assistant to educate the patient about his/ her case and guide them throughout the course of treatment.
