Normally, a cruise director is responsible for all types of shipboard activities and entertainment activities on the ship. The cruise director also supervises the staff within the Entertainment department and co-ordinates with the administration department.

Basically, the cruise director acts as the main source of information for the passengers and guests on the cruise. They also act as close relative to younger crew members staying far from home.

 

Cruise Director Job Responsibilities

 

  • Welcoming the on-board guests and providing the information to the passengers.
  • Helping the passengers to find the appropriate ship departments and solving their problems.
  • Maintaining the appropriate conduct and behaviour with the passengers and with the fellow crew.
  • Organizing and managing the performance and conduct of the concerned departments and keeping track about the performance of the staff.
  • Planning and organizing the schedules of the performers like the speakers, lecturers, on- staff entertainers and the performance of the special guests.
  • Attending the private parties, this includes the Cruise Critic onboard gatherings, VIP functions and special events like welcoming the onboard receptions and organizing for the parties.
  • Maintaining the various reports and information for the corporate headquarters.
  • Keeping all the records of the major events in the cruise.
  • Maintaining the administrative works, including the budgets, billing and scheduling.
