A chief accountant is an individual who is responsible for the financial planning of the respective firm which has employed the individual. The chief accountant is there for record keeping i.e. for making a record of all the financial transactions of the firm. The transactions may vary in the amount of money being transacted or the use/ purpose of the transaction.
Chief Accountant Job Responsibilities
- The chief accountant is responsible for working on the general accounting under the directions of his/ her immediate superior.
- The chief accountant is responsible for maintaining the ledger of the firm.
- The chief accountant is responsible for recording all the payables with proper details.
- The chief accountant is responsible for keeping a record of the payroll of the firm/ employees with all the relevant details.
- Keeping a record of all the property owned or rented or related to the business in any other way is also the responsibility of the chief accountant.
- The chief accountant is responsible for preparing the budget in accordance and coordination with the various departments. He/ she is also responsible for the budget reporting to the senior officials or concerned authorities.
- The chief accountant is responsible for preparing the financial statements of the business at the end of each financial cycle or the intervals decided by the authorities of the organization.
- The chief accountant is given the responsibility of the accumulation of the statistical data regarding the finances of the firm and analyzing it on request as well as regular basis.
